Waterfowl near Snohomish/skagit county
« on: December 11, 2013, 06:06:20 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm sort of new on here, mostly reading, not a huge contributor. I have been a newbie waterfowler going on my second year now. First generation hunter in my family so I've had to teach myself for the most part. I have hunted spots in Snohomish area but have had very little success. I do go with a buddy but I'm not sure he knows much more than I do even though he's Been doing it a couple years longer. I am getting really tired of seeing all the ducks in the hunt club lands and nothing in the public lands I go to. I would like to ask if there is anyone with experience who would be willing to teach me more about scouting and hunting ducks. I have a set of 2 dozen decoys if that will help. I am just nearing my wits end. It's frustrating to go out every weekend and not get any action because I don't know where to go. I just need a little direction and guidance.

Thanks.

I am in a similar situation as a first gen. hunter but have a buddy that has been doing it for years. For me the best thing has been to just go out and hunt the quality hunt spots in Skagit and Whatcom counties. I live in Seattle so it can be tough to wake up at 3:30AM to get to the blinds at 5am and find the one I scouted is taken... I usually try and hunt weekdays since it seems to be much less crowded.

If you are ever in the Bellingham area let me know.  I usually have an open seat during the middle of the week.  Would be happy to show you the ropes.
