Early archery elk dates?
« on: December 19, 2013, 04:59:04 PM »
Does early archery elk always start on September 3rd? I've heard recently from a couple folks that this year it starts a little later due to leap year or something. Any truth to that? It sure would be nice for it to start even a week later for hopefully colder weather.
Every thought of my being is in regards to being a high tech predator and I relish the role.

I wish it opened earlier. The last week of August would be best for me.

It would just be nice if it wasn't 90 + degrees and sunny. some early fall cold snaps during the season would be sweet.

In the area I hunted this year all the bulls leave the first week of September. They head off to where the cows are. The hunting would have been great the last week of August, there were at least four legal bulls in the area, and a couple others that came through occasionally. A week into September they were all gone.

So I certainly don't want the season to start any later. At least next year it's one day earlier, I'm happy about that!
