Well, what can I say?

Boats are expensive and so is the fuel to run them all day. $40 is a very low price to pay for a day of fishing.

And yes, it is challenging to live in a house full of females- heck even the dog is a girl. I'm outnumbered 4 to 1.   :yike:

Oh, and I don't do New Year's resoulutions- never have. I figure what's the point, I know I don't have the willpower to last more than a couple of weeks. However if I had to choose one it would be to get my butt in shape before next hunting season.

Boats are very expensive when you consider all costs.  Just a few that slip by many are, Two stroke oil ($150 a year for me).  Insurance ($385 a year for me). Boat tabs. Trailer Tabs. Gear oil for the lower units.  Bearings regreased/packed (thank God for bearing buddies). Fuel conditioner (If you're not using ethanol free). Stabil(which I use every fill up). Those are just a few of the many hidden costs that most passengers don't realize.  I've never asked for anybody to every help with costs with anything in my boat, but have gotten the occasional few bucks here and there for gas.

I guess that makes me a greedy, bad person....   :dunno:  I expect to at least be offered something as the person with all of the expenses.  It should be up to me, as the one with the bulk of the expenses, to turn offers down.

If I was wanting to go fishing I wouldn't even question the $40. That sounds very reasonable to me.

$40 is my standard for sled trips. I'd rather overcompensate my friends than be stingy. Plus they have to run the boat all day which can be a pain in the arse

Three people in a 17 foot boat.

Looking for 40 dollars each with would be 80 dollars total.

3x $40 would actually be $120. This assumes that the boat owner is paying a share of course!

My own 17' 120hp i/o Reinell won't even HOLD $120 in gas lol, the most I have ever gone through in a long day of fishing with a lot of running around is about 15 gallons. I ran over 40 miles that day and trolled for 6+ hours on the main motor. The launch costs $9 but I buy a yearly pass for $150 for Everett 10th street launch. Crab bait and gear costs a little extra but if you are willing to pay $40 a trip you can fish with me anytime!
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Isn't there one poster who ends up with derelict salvage fees quite often? Ya know fetching your boat back cost's mony!!!!    :chuckle:

When I invite someone if they are short just tell me. I'm going fishing anyway.

Took my hunting buddy Salmon fishing in Lewiston this fall he had no gear but bought gas. Lost all the set-up so I'm going to get a display like the Zippy mart. everything has a price tag and he can just start a tab!!!

When my cousin takes me out in the sound for salmon I usually give him 20, bring him a good sandwich for lunch and supply his beer.  Being a captain of the boat is a big responsibility, his knowledge is priceless. A good captain understands the risk involved with boating and is responsible for everyone on board.

A good day fishing with friends beats a day off the water pay up and enjoy could be the start of a bunch more trips or buy a boat.

Can't imagine a 60hp would burn much in regards of gas, unless he is running way up or down river.  If I drive and pick folks along I-5 to and from - use the Columbia from Black Diamond area it is about $120 in diesel - normally a tank full for the round trip pulling boat. Then I burn about 10 or so gallons gas about $40, get bait for Sturgeon about $20, boat ramp - normally one of us throws whatever we have in the wallets towards that.  But anyhow, the cost as example are $180, normally just divide by 4 or 3, how many on boat and that is what we divide up to get a cost, but most times I say $40-50 bucks. It makes it easier to fish as much as I do with the same group of people too and it covers fuel, bait only - boat expenses are all mine.  When I fish with anyone else in their boat, I always ask them what they need for gas - normally the same $40-50, as gas isn't cheap as we all know.
If I go a lot with the same guys we generally do the same as Coho. A lot of times I just want to go and it's a lot of work by myself so I'll ask a couple guys to go. When I do that then I don't expect them to pay anything, since I was going to go anyway and having them along makes it possible. Now if they want to chip in then great but I don't ask for it in that situation. :twocents:
