nosler accubond?????
« on: December 29, 2013, 09:08:55 AM »
Who shoots nosler accubonds on deer elk and bear? How have they performed for you? Are they accurate at long range? I was thinking about making some hand loads for a 300 Remington short mag. They would be 180 grain.

Love em. While guiding in southern Colorado and New Mexico I had many clients that used them and took many elk with that exact load.  I also *censored* my bull moose this year with my 300 wsm and 180 gr nosler accubond. Bull fell in his tracks and never new what hit him.  1 bull in particular I remember I could put my fist through the lungs and he was shot at 400+yards. Hope this helps.

Many 270wsm's love the 140. I like the performance and am confident out to 500yards. Good luck.

"Are they accurate at long range?"

Accuracy is a factor of many, many variables. Bullet selection is quite a ways down the list.  Most guns can be made to shoot most bullets well most of the time for most shooters.

I prefer Barnes bullets but have used Accubonds with good results.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

The Accubond is more accurate at long range than the Partition. Boat tail bullet is stable. I shoot 200 Gr Accubonrd out of my 30-378. I shot a deer in New Mexico at 975 yds this year. 1 shot , 1 kill. Double lung shot.

I switched to nosler accubonds this year and love them .  2 antelope , 1 blacktail , 1 muley , and 1 elk this year couldn't disagree more .  My 270 loves them too.

I've used Accubonds in my 270 win, 7mm SAU, and 300 Ultra mag. Accuracy has been great with out to 500 with the 270, 7mm and the 300 will shoot 2 inch groups at 600! 10-15 animals have been taken from coyotes to elk between the three guns.
I had always been a partition fan with my handloads until nosler developed the accubonds! I still use partitions in my short range thumpers but everything else gets fed Accubonds.

300WSM with 180 gn accubonds have been awesome for me. I got lucky with my Browning A-bolt. Not only do they have awesome terminal ballistics, but they shoot about .6 MOA with the factory ammo. All around great set up for elk and bear. Maybe a little overkill for blacktails.

I went to Accubonds from Barnes in my 30-378 three years ago.  The Barnes performed great and the Accubonds even better.  Since I switched a few deer and an elk so far with this years mule deer at < 600 > yards, double lunged with fantastic performance.  Still shoot Barnes out of the .243 with satisfactory performance on a very large bear at 75 yards last year.  Cannot go wrong with either IMO.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

Ive shot deer elk and bear with my 225gr accubonds out of my 338win. Every animal didnt make it very far. Ive made shots from 10yds-550yds and the accubond expanded and held together. Ive had bad luck with barnes.

Here's a 150gr Accubond shot from my .300 WSM recovered from a Mulie just under the hide on the off side. The shot was just shy of 400 yard, I believe 379. I can't exactly recal.

This is a 260gr Accubond I recovered from a Mulie, shot from a .375 Ultra Magnum at 560 yards.

Great bullets! Accurate, good BC's. Since they hit the market it's bassicaly all I have shot for hunting  in all my rifles with the aception of a Hornady here and there.
