Starling

Anyone know if it is legal in Tacoma to kill Starlings from the backyard with a pellet gun?
I really hate these birds; they just won't leave my fruit trees alone. I tried all kinds of deterents but nothing seem to work.

Oh man, I feel your pain.

CCI CB Longs work great around the farm...as does a 12ga. cylinder bore w/ #7.5's.....take 'em all out at once!

I believe if your in city limits you cant shoot a pellet gun. I know you can in yakima or selah. Start getting good with a sling shot.

wow that sucks, hmmm i wonder if a blowgun would be considered an airgun? seems like its your only option, starlings are a nuisance

don't know about the legality of it but.......

I noticed my dog cowering in her dog house during feeding time. Turns out the magpies had claimed her dog bowl as there own. As soon as I would put her food in and return to the house it would be covered with magpies. Literally 6-8 out there at a time. Well the dog bowl went into one of those live traps and about 4 magpies followed. Soon, no more problem. I now feed my dog after dark and have had no problem with magpies. I seen coons out there but she will chase them off. Kinda weird a dog that is afraid of birds but not a coon. go figure.

You need to discover why they like your place. In my experience, they are usually attracked to food or good roosting trees like blue spruce. Eliminate the food source or harrass their roost and they will most likely find a nicer neighborhood.

yes actually it is legal, atleast last year it was, to trap starlings. the wdfw site even has a page that tells you a easy type of trap to make
