Remington model 7 or tikka t3 lite? This is for my wife and she is 5'2" tall. My sister has the rem model 7 and it is a nice compact rifle for a woman to pack around. I have no personal experience with the tikka but the reviews seem to be very favorable. Looking for thoughts and opinions. Anybody have experience with both models?  Thanks!

either one will work just fine  I bought my wife a win .model 70 ...she just loves it ... just a hair more spendy than the T3 or Rem 7...T3s are sweet guns for the price

You might check out the Ruger American Compact too. :twocents:

 :yeah:

I have a ruger hawkeye and its not really compact or light, knowing what I know now I would totally buy the compact version or a youth version.

My daughter shoots the Hawkeye Compact in 7mm08, but they are significantly more money than the American Compact.

Never owned the T3 but do have the 700, it's a nice rifle too.

The model 7 I have in 7mm/08 is light and shoots very well considering the short barrel. Not much kick to it at all really. Great gun and topped with a vx2 2-7 it is a great firearm for a small stature hunter or for the backcountry.

This is an easy decision for me. There is no question in my mind that my Tikka T-3 SS Lite is vastly superior to anything Remington has produced recently.
The last "decent quality" Remington I had was a M700 KS out of their custom shop.
The Tikka's barrel is made by SAKO.
The Tikka's trigger is vastly superior to this new Remington trigger.
Also the T-3 is clip fed.
Just my two bits. Don

tikka 3 for sure.  my granddaughter is under 5 foot and slim and just got that gun in tikka and loves it.  I have a t-3 in 25-06 and it is deadly.  mike w

My son started off with a model 7 youth in 260. Very nice lightweight little gun. He liked it so well, when he got bigger he put full size stock on it and still carries it. He's 24 now. But I don't know if Remington even makes a 7 youth any more.

Interesting, tikka's are hard to beat the only issue maybe the length of pull if you put a limbsaver on it the lop goes to 14.5 inches.

No experience with either of those rifles but I just gave my girlfriend a Ruger Frontier in 7mm-08 for her birthday. She's only 5'4" and the short stock fits her perfectly, we were both surprised at the lack of recoil also. Shoots real well, hopefully we'll get to put it on paper soon instead of just shooting at dirt clods out in the pasture. Great caliber.
