CR 123 batteries

What's the best CR123 batteries to buy for a Surefire flashlight? Where's the best place to buy them?

I've had good luck with the Kodak's. I think they are actually made by Duracell. Pretty much any place that sells cameras should carry a Cr 123.

The only place I found them cheap was on eBay. Some of the eBay sellers buy them in bulk and then repackage them in smaller quantities.

My flashlight takes three. Had it in my pack most of the hunting season and when I went to use it a few weeks ago it was dead. Apparently it got switched on while in the bottom of my pack.   

I can't believe how expensive those batteries are, even at walmart.

I've got one that takes 3 and one that takes 2. I bought some of the Surefire batteries at cabelas thinking they'd be good but they weren't any better than the Duracell ones. Maybe I should be looking for the best price rather than the best battery.

I have had good luck with Duracell, I have a box that was dated 2009 and are still great also

The lights eat the batteries  pretty good no matter what, I never get more than an hour or two out of my defender

Be careful with the cheap ones. They have been known to catch fire. 123's are expensive because each cell contains a regulator to maintain voltage. Cheap regulators cause the energy to surge leading to fire.

I'd stick to the well-known names in batteries; Surefire, Duracell, Kodak.  One winter I was working on a big addition to the Clinic building, and was using an electronic transit for the layout work.  We got all brands of batteries, because it was cold, and they didn't last long.  It seemed like the Duracells lasted longest.  I have a Tactical light on my home defense gun, and the old Surefire CR 123 (2 of them) that came with the light 8 years ago are still good!  Granted, they don't get much use, but still, that's a good lifetime for a battery.

Buy the rechargeable ones from Sportsmans Warehouse

I have one of those M4's myself. Good light.

Like bobcat said, buy them off of ebay. That's what I did and they were a lot cheaper, I got Panasonics.

I got a regular defender and a LED defender and the LED lasts a very long time.  I tried to keep track but lost track after about 8 hours.  The regular defender does use them quite fast.
