First time going for steelhead tomorrow!
« on: January 14, 2014, 08:47:06 PM »
Headed out to the queets river tomorrow at 0300 with some coworkers.  This is my first time going after steelhead, I can't wait to get out there!  Tied about 20 jigs today...the wife isn't used to me fishing this time of the year so hopefully I don't get addicted like I am silvers....

Queets was flowing at 4500 today, hoping they drop and clear before Saturday, I'll be over there as well.

Quite a bit of snow fell and it has been warm (upper 30's) at the higher elevations.  The melt is keeping the river up a little high.

Its at 7600 right now. I think you meant 45000.
It fishes at 5000 and below, but Id rather see 3500ish for Steelies.

Id use eggs and plugs with the clarity still low....

LOL, did a little picture get you all excited?   The Queets/Clearwater sure spits out the big ones.   Kind of like the Desert Unit and Colockum.    ;)

Had this planned for a few weeks now, no soccer this weekend so I got a hall pass. :chuckle:

We wont be fishing the Queets system though.

Netting has been curtailed the last few years. 5 days right now, 3 days March April. Still sucks though.
