Yeah, I ditched the hydration systems last year.  I find the tube freezes even if you get the insulated ones, they are heavier overall than the cheap 1/2 liter water bottles, and I hate not knowing how much I have left!  more than once I have drank down the bladder without realizing how low I was.  Now I just toss in four of the 1/2 liter Arrow head bottles on the side pouches a and meter them out along the way.  I refill them with a water filter if I am on a longer trip.

your hunting partner does not have any communicable diseases, but what about the guy you find on the trail?

There are other uses for condoms than just to protect your rifle muzzle. :yike:

I wouldn't be too quick about throwing out your H2O bladder.  The best thing about them is that they are accessible, easy to get a drink and keep drinking on a load out.   A bladder can also be used to carry bulk water, which you will need.  Bottles aren't bad but if you don't keep them handy you are less apt to use them.  If you have to take your pack off to take a drink, you aren't going to do it and have a greater chance of dehydration.  If you have them hanging off your pack, you will sound like a mormon drover.  I was in the backcountry with someone who had bottles in their pack and they cramped up big time from not hydrating enough.  I learned the lesson the easy way on this one.  A hydration bladder and a bottle in the pack is a nice way to go.

For your bowl and cup, I would suggest looking into a titanium kettle.  A ti cup will work but a kettle is a little bigger and has a lid (which is very important, don't go without a lid).  The kettle can do everything a bowl/cup can do and can also heat water plus save weight.  I like the ti kettle by Stoic, I paid around $20 for it.

Well since I have never been on a back country hunt I changed everything.
Horn hunter full curl system pack
Bass pro Enduraskin base layers
Predator adrenaline series jacket & pants, Henley 1/4 zip shirt
Foxriver sock liners
Frogg Toggs rain gear
Spork
Small light bowl & cup
I was going to get the H20 bladder for my Horn hunter pack but my friend and several others I see dont like them and use Nalgene water bottles.
Those are the main things to go with a big list of changes.

Oh I also ditched the heavy knives last yr and got a Havalon

I absolutely hate water bladders, always a PIA to get into the spot in the pack for it with out taking out half the gear. I use a 32oz nalgene with a hole drilled in the top for the hydration hose from my bladder. Have a sawyer mini inline so I can just dip and go.

Bmcox86 very interested to hear how your new pack feels with weight. Which quilt are you going to buy?

I've been eyeing the revolution as well. I've read really good reviews on them.

Pen and paper for leaving notes with hunting party.
I'm also planning on putting a deer in it this year :)
