XDs

The .45 XD-S is comfortable to hold, slim and compact. The grip is textured to grip the hand well but the grip being as short as it is( It may fit others hands better ) it is a tough customer to completely control with double taps and rapid firing. Unless you have a death grip on it, it forces you to re adjust  your grip due to lively recoil with full house loads as in 230 Hydra shock & Corbon's. After shooting it and several friends shooting it the general consensus was a shoulder shrug and on to the next one. I like a more controllable handgun. My Clark Custom Springfield Champion shoots double taps and rapid fires like a champ but it has a slightly longer standard grip, it makes a world of difference.

I also have the XDM competition in .45 and a standard XD in 9mm. I would reach for any of the XD's before I would reach for the XD-S in .45.

Yeah I meant the XD-S. I dont own any single stack pistols and am thinking i would like it. Im a big guy but have small hands (7 inches from base of palm to tip of middle finger)

So you have arms and hands like a tyrannosaurus rex.  short and tiny!!!   

I'm a big stud with big paws myself. The gun feels good to shoot, even in my paws........7x4 inches. Same as you.

6'2 230ish, long arms and legs.......but wear size 9 shoes and have small hands. standard stapler for reference

I put Pearce Extensions on mine for my, pinky finger to have something to grip.

As for a  reference, I can't use mine........

Anyone have a Springfield XDs? How do you like it?

Everytime I see the news ad's on this site it makes me want to look at one. Guess the marketing is paying off, hope bearpaw got good money 

I love it. I have many pistols and don't get all googoo very often but I absolutely love my XDs. I really cant believe a pistol this size is so controllable in 45. I HIGHLY recommend it.

  am going to get an xds-9 as soon as my tax refund hits my doorstep.  I have an xdm-9 and an xd-9.  is that too much even if a pair of 357's sits with them.  I am a little stud with big hands and big feet.   mike w

Have shot and have seen shot many rounds thru and XDS, in both 45 and in 9mm. With extended mags, they were both phenominal shooters, both for accuraccy and for quick doubles and 5 count speed drills. Also, very easy do hit at disatance (130 yrds) with this gun with controlled fire... A BIG thumbs up!

I picked up an XDM from a member on here.  It's been a great gun!  Coming from a 1911 and having small hands it took some getting used to.  Finally had to work on getting my approach to the grip just a little bit different.  Took about three months to become second nature like the 1911 was.  Now sights line up perfect even in rather fast target acquisition.  I'm not going to say it shoots better than my old Delta Elite, but I think I'm liking it more.  Only thing I have a problem with is the magazine.  None of the three I have like being loaded to full capacity.  I run them two short (11) and they perform flawlessly.  Not always the case when loaded with twelve or thirteen rounds.

I carry an XDS 45 with me about everywhere I go.  I love it, very nice shooting gun.

I just got mine back after Springfield having it for 3 months for the recall. Now when I rack the slide back, with the mag out, to eject the round in the chamber, it does a sideways stovepipe. WTF ! Never did it before. I'm using Hornady TAP 230 grn ammo. They monkeyed with and replaced 4 things and I think one is the extractor. Anybody else's gun do this ?

White Elephant too. Precision combat is downtown near the old costco and north of Docks burgers. Cant remember the street but you could google them.

every one I have seen come back work flawless with a variety of ammo.

dont have an XDS, but borrowed one from a friend to shoot, just to see. It can  rip a ragged inch or so hole in the target at 10 yards, just like my Glock, but recoil is a little sharper than the glock 23 (compact .40). not unmanageable, but after about half a box of shells you might find you are done for the day.

I love mine. I find the recoil very manageable considering its a 45 in a vary small frame.  I had a LC9 and absolutely  hated it. That's the only gun I have actually sold. I swore I would never sell a gun, but in my opinion it was garbage. I don't think you will be disappointed with the XDs
