Spotlighting coyotes/bobcats!

Anyone go spotlighting for yotes and cats?! Any luck? what times of the night and areas? Let's hear your story.

I have done it a couple of times. The best times seemed to be the 2-3 hrs right after dusk and the 2-3 hrs right before dawn. I also called into the regional WDFW office to let them know the general area I was going, so if they got a call about spotlights they would know it was likely me out there (It isn't something you have to do, but I always figured if I was getting woke up in the middle of the night only to check on a guy that was legal, it would suck). When I called in they just asked the general area I would be in and what color and type vehicle I was driving.

A friend and I went out spotlighting one night, and I shined the spotlight on a coyote about 100 yards away.  I held the light on him, and my buddy got out to shoot, and instead of just shooting from behind the headlights, he walked out in front of the truck and started yelling; "Turn out the headlights--I can't see!".  Naturally, the coyote left quickly.  I never hunted with him again!

I smashed on one over in Moses Lake with the spotter.. The thing actually went blazin across the back road about 30 yards in front of my truck and up onto a snow covered little bluff. My son's girlfriend who was riding in the back seat put the shiner on it, clear bright light and he froze in his tracks. He moved a little and i pulled up a little as she kept the spotter right on him.. I stepped out and loaded a round of the Savage 22-250 and stepped off the sandy road and ~boom ~ chocka locka it was curtains.. He did a complete somersault as we were hi-fiven white guys and then took off running.. we let him settle and it didnt take long to find him..Every time he stopped he was sprayin badly.. Anyway that was at about 9:30 at night.. Highly recommend it.. See alot more movement

Calling is a good idea if your going to be spotlighting where people from a highway per say can see the light. Wardens aren't the most friendly guys while their checking you out at 3:00am even though your legit, after they were just woke up by a call from the State Patrol to respond to possible poaching activity. Especially when they had to drive 40 plus miles to find you. This I know! The warden in the end just asked if we would call them the next go around and save us both the hassle.

never though of spot lighting... i never really predator hunt.  if anyone has any suggestions on where to go lemme know...
