It's WDFW land so either one will work.

Winter feeding for elk, big-horn sheep underway

WDFW’s winter feeding program is now underway at the Oak Creek Wildlife Area, where hundreds of hungry elk and big-horn sheep are descending from the high country to dine on alfalfa hay and pellets. Bald and golden eagles are also on display throughout the area. The visitors center is open, but it's always a good idea to check the recorded message on the headquarters phone (509-653-2390) for updates on feeding and elk-viewing tours. Visitors should be aware that a state Discover Pass or WDFW Access Pass is required to park at the Wildlife Area. Visitors can purchase a Discover Pass at the area headquarters or online from WDFW’s website.

The state throws up their Discover Pass signs on WDFW lands too, but in about 1/10th the size of the font of the 'Discover Pass Required' it says 'Or Vehicle Access Pass'. The size of font that you wouldn't be able to read it driving by at any speed.  Tricked my Dad into purchasing a DP for the 1 place he wanted to go, he never spends time on state land so he's never bought one.  He was PISSED when I pointed out that I was nearly certain that WDFW lands were okay with our pass issued with licenses.  Sleezy tactics to spur DP sales.

Looks like I gave them an extra 30 bucks then. Not suprised at all. Totally would expect wdfw to do somthing like that. Very sleezy

I was at Joe Watt last Wednesday, many elk down.  Came back south route on Wednesday and stopped at Oak Creek and same thing with hundreds of elk all down right at the fence / viewing deck.

I need to dig up some old pics from the mid 90's. when I used to help feed the elk on the E burg side. Pretty cool having a big bull take alfalfa from your hand.

Wow those sneaky little.... I went with my brother who already had a discover pass but I'm glad that I now know you only need a Vehicle Use Pass. I'll spread the word, thanks for the heads up.

Went Yesterday.  Bout 300 head 15 bulls biggest bout 330"-340"

Yeah, went Saturday and Sunday. Pretty cool to see them all especially for the kids. Their count indicated about 500 head in there.

Indians shot them all and over havest. That is why they are proposing more cow tags.

That is true. A few individuals from the Yakama Nation slaughter bulls all winter just so they can sell the antlers to taxidermists.
