Cle Elum?
« on: February 11, 2014, 01:56:11 PM »
Hey guys,

Not looking for secret spots here, just wondering if anyone has had success out of Cle Elum / Ellensburg area?

I've had great success in the NE corner, but man that drive sucks up 2 days in itself and I just won't have that kind of time to spare this year.

Thanks all, and good luck this year!

Curtis

2 days driving to/from the NE?  You need to learn the benefits of night driving, it'll help you feed your habit more often
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

There's a lot of turkeys in the teanaway but they're going to be hard to find because of the wolfs. If you're looking to hunt this area I suggest you go to teanaway and get far away from the roads and people. That way you're better off finding a couple turkeys, I've hunted that area a lot for turkeys and the farther i went back in the more sign I saw. It would be good to scout out a good area in teanawayand get to know the farmers.

We've busted a few birds out of there but personally I think the drive to NE is worth it.

:yeah:

having spent many hours in both spots, I have to agree that I would head to the NE corner. I am not saying there aren't birds in Cle Elum, there are a lot but they get heavily pressured and can be tough to find. A good amount end up on private land in both areas but the land owners in the NE are more likely to give permission then in the Teanaway from my experience.

Make sure you stay off private land.  It is a huge issue.  I work very hard to get permission to hunt private land and it gets harder every year due to trespassing.  Nothing is worse than working with a landowner, being the only person with permission, scouting the birds, and having somebody wander in after the gobbling they are hearing, busting a setup.
