The real difference between the Remington and the mossberg is the safety.....if the price is anywhere near the same.  buy the one that has the safety you prefer,   nothing like putting in all the work of walking/scouting/set up/ calling and bringing in a huge ole tom.... and then forgetting to take off your safety......

I shoot a Benelli Nova. I have had it for 9 years.I consider it the best, most versatile gun for the money. Inexpensive and has killed birds...which is the point.

I have a moss berg factory xtrafull in my 835 and it throws a wicked pattern.  If you can find one, they say that Stardot tubes that were sold at wally world 10 years ago are absolutely insane.

If you are thinking heavier than lead shot, look at Indian Creek, Pure Gold, or SumToy.

Whether $600 is a good price depends on which Mossberg it is. Pretty high for a 500 pump, but not for an auto loader. Mossberg makes good durable guns. I carried one in Iraq every day and never had a single problem with it.
