well I was after a large 4 point at the time and I thought it was him since he was running at 400 yards. He stopped and I dumped him
That happened to me in '91 up in Colville. Was watching two bucks on a powerline at 300 yards at first light. Big one on the left, little one on the right. Dialed the scope down to 3X to shoot and I guess they switched places... When I walked up to him I thought "man, that's a lot of ground shrinkage", then I looked up and the other deer was staring at me 50 yards back in the timber... Oh, well, the "little" one was still a nice 5X6 (counting eyegards).
Here's my 9 year old with his first buck, and my Blue Mountain mulie, both from this year.

Ditto. Great buck. Did it take you a long time to get drawn, or did you get a combo tag?
