I believe the limiting factor is not the runs that are strong, such as the 900K URBs expected to return this year.  There are other stocks, like lower river wild kings and coho, that aren't strong.  The impact on them limits how the fishery is conducted.

I think your point about prolonging the season plays a huge role also.  Why do you think springers are open for months in the big C before any show up and then the season closes right when they do show?

Because our seasons are based around the peak of the run with the OPORTUNITY to catch fish not ACTUALLY catch any. They usually post the anticipated returns in order to set the commercial seasons.

Had horrible bad luck last year at vernita!! (boat motor) Hopefully can make it happen this year!!
