The talk is that Wyoming is going to decrease the percentage of tags that go to non residents in the near future, making some hunts nearly impossible to draw, even for those who have max points. They tried to get the change implemented this year but it didn't quite make it, so most people are thinking it's a done deal for next year. Due to this many people are getting out of the Wyoming points game.

A bunch of folks bailed when they raised the cost of the points.   That softened that chart a bit.

It would be cool to know how many non res tags they give out for each every year.  I am sure a person could find out

38, DIY.  I got no shot with 15 pts but what the heck, somebody has to draw the 1 in the random.   :chuckle:

89 total in 2013.
9 for any moose
53 for antlered
14 for antlerless
13 in the random (2 any, 8 antlered, 3 antlerless)

Even with 12 points, that's about 10 years to chew through the NR pool. :chuckle:  for moose that is.  Sheep is even uglier

Here's the preference and random draw results from the last 2 years.
There are some opportunities in some very fine hunt areas to pick up an antlered or any tag with 12 or more points.
If I don't get drawn this year, which I highly doubt I will, I am probably going to go after one of the other areas next year.
I ain't getting any younger here.  :chuckle:

last year in unit 34 it was one with 17 points and 1 with 14 points and one 14 point guy didn't draw and 33 people put in with less than 14 they don't give you a break down below the bottom point drawer(14) in this instance but their were units in the state that 12 was a tag winner

Yeah screw this.

Canada might be more expensive but I don't want to commit to two decades and lots of uncertainty at that.

Atleast it would be more chance to get drawn than only applying in WA (even though it may be a very small chance)..............you think there is any certainty with applying in WA?

Yep but if you're a non resident the costs are cheap. Who wants to commit to spending $100 a year for 20 years, then pay what will likely be $2,000+ by then? That's $4,000 just to get your tag. Gotta be cheaper options in Canada or Mexico.
