I hunted a public land area 2 years ago and shot a 4x4 whitetail the second day of the season. We seen 14 legal bucks all mule deer after i took my deer. The deer are there you may just have to do a little homework to find a good area to hunt.

In all reality there are some nice deer there. But as said, if you dont know or are a land owner then the little public land there is, is SWARMING with hunters. There is a truck on every corner and a dozen hunters on every hill. And 95% of them are weekend warriors or just straight *censored* bags. Its dangerous and often frustrating. I raise and sale pack goats and I would never consider taking mine out there during modern firearm season. Even with them covered nearly head to hoof in orange, just to many idiots.

No deer live anywhere near Dayton. Sorry to give you the bad news.
Thanks for the heads up, but I will be seeing for myself when I'm scouting your eastside elk :chuckle:

I hate to be the bad news guy but there are no deer because the wolves, cougars and BF's ate all the elk and have had to lower their standards to deer. Sorry man.  :chuckle:

Dayton area...kinda sorta...3-5 miles away from the GMU boundary I guess.

 :dunno:

I've only posted it about 71 times on here. It's all I got.

With that said, the 2 deer posted in this thread account for the last whitetail and the last mule deer to ever walk the Blue Mountains.

Don't believe these guys, they're just trying to keep you outa their honey-holes.
Check THIS guy out.  I got this buck on my trail cam just last year.  I'm not saying they're all this big, but if you spend the time, several thousand dollars in trespass fees, and don't mind hunting with a few other guys (there were 9 of us after this guy), then there are bucks like to be had 3 out of every 10 years you hunt here.

Not trying to brag, but I got him euro'ed out too...

Pathfinder, it looks like you lost a couple of inches in the drying process. Hopefully you got him "officially" scored before that happened.

What are you trying to say Fairchase?  Are you implying that I AM EXAGGERATING THE SIZE OF THE DEER I KILL?

That's why I don't like to post pics of the deer I kill on this site!  There's always a nay-sayer that wants to tear down successful trophy hunters like me!
 What's next?

Are you going to claim that I penraised him?

 >:(
