In a way to reduce overall costs to the agency, WA State Parks is looking at transferring Potlatch State Park in Mason County to the Skokomish Tribe. The park is entirely within the Skokomish Reservation. The park is 134 acres with approximately 1 mile of Hood Canal waterfront property.
Since 2005 State Parks has transferred parks to the Suquamish and Samish Tribes.
State Parks will study the proposal over the coming months and plans to make a final decision in July.
