Moving to Maine

It's getting close, my moving date is 4/27. There's allot of things I will miss about WA and some things I am looking forward to in Maine! WA I will miss the mountains, the diversity of ecosystems and game animals! I will miss elk most of all! Salmon fishing ( although Maine is working on bringing the salmon back last year was the first year you could fish for them again)
Maine I am looking forward to the freedom , 210 days of sunshine, less restrictions more huntable land, the cost of outdoor recreation, for under 100 bucks I can hunt all game species bag limits of 2 deer modern, archery,muzz plus as many does as I want for aditional 12 dollars a tag, 2 bear, 2 turkeys, small game, migratory bird, a moose lottery ticket(1:100 chance or 1:50 if I have a hunting partner, plus ice fishing, fresh, salt, and shell fishing!
I'm looking forward to the food! the Maine north woods( 10mill acres of huntable and fishable land).The simplicity of life, and being near my family and friends( I grew up on Cape cod MA.

We use to do family vacations up there. You'll love it. The seafood is amazing.

i have heard that the fall season in maine is something to behold, i have never been there, but they say the colors in the fall are almost blinding, i would love to see it someday, i also heard there are a ton of bear, any truth to that? can you bait there? good luck and happy trails

There are a lot of things about Maine that I like.  Northwoods and moose being a couple of them. I hope it works out for you.

my best friend moved back to maine a couple years ago & told me I can purchase a lifetime hunting license for around $500 for my kids, that would be awesome.....cant wait to go visit him & hunt his father n law is a game warden back there & guides for moose....sounds like a great place to live...good luck & safe travels....

My mom lives in Portland and my childhood hunting experiences were on Moosehead lake, hunting for squirrels and whitetails. Some great memories back there and NH.

Yes a lot of bear and you can bait! The bears are big I think the state record is close to 700lbs!! And whitetails get huge there too! 200 lb dressed is not uncommon.

Yes a ton of bear and you can bait! The bear are huge I think the state record is close to 700lbs!! And whitetails get huge there too! 200 lb dressed is not uncommon.

I used to run an Inn for my family in NH. In about 3 weeks time in late September and early October, we'd do about 30% of the year's business because of the leaves and the leaf peepers coming up by the busload to look at the colors. It is absolutely stunning to behold.
