Merriams Turkey Camp 2014

Started the season off with a bang, with two youth hunters taking down 3 nice birds on opening weekend. Very narrowly missed taking home 4. Initially we had two birds down in Lincoln county by 9:00 on Saturday, then hightailed in back to Chelan county and had another bird down at 6:00 pm. This morning we set up right smack in the middle of what sounded like half of Central WA's turkey population. But somehow nothing wanted to come our way, despite the sweet talking with the Phelps Calls. The birds were henned up heavily, and after the flydown frenzy we didnt hear another gobble all morning. Still a very fun hunt, and it was the first bird for one of the youths and the second and third birds for the other.

Nice work by you and the kids ... congrats.
I had planned on going to Lincoln county again this year, but landowner passed on ... so heading to Colville next week to visit with old friends and reliving old hunts.
