Tongue's in the photo.
« on: November 23, 2008, 09:17:16 AM »
O.k. here I go. I know it's not a big deal, but.  I can't be the only one that looks at a awesome photo of some of these awesome bucks, bulls, moose and others. And the tongue's are hanging out.  :tung: I'm guilty if doing the same thing. Then I look at the pic and say to myself. That would be a great pic but the tongue is hanging out. :tung:And you take it to work to brag and a non hunter see's it and...you know the rest.  :o It just takes a second to stick it back in and then it doesn't take away from the picture.

I agree. It ruins a fine picture and looks disrespectfull and redneck. Push it back in, or cut it off.  Good point.

For me it is about displaying the animal in it's best pose. The tongue takes away from a good picture and isn't the best look for the animal you worked so hard to get.

Boone & Crockett's take,

"Set the animal up so it is presented in a respectful way. Tongues hanging out, blood on the animal or the ground, bullet holes showing in the body and legs askew detract from the photograph and contribute to distasteful photographs."

"It is the editorial policy of the Club to only publish field photographs of big game animals which present the animal in a discreet and respectful way."

Another thing that bugs the crap out of me is all the pictures I see with the animals  throats slit. No offence to those that do, I now that is probably the way you were taught but it is unnecessary and to me ruins a great photo op.

I like a litte Tongue!  :P  ;) .  Oh yeah and I believe most of us is rednecks on this here site.  I personally don't "church up" the photos I take.

About the Slit Throats, I don't personally do it, but if you have ever witnessed a good butcher.  That is the first thing he does after the kill so it must do something.  To each his own.  What ever floats your boat.
Will hunt for food.

Take a picture of em how they died,  everyone knows you propped em up and made them look pretty anyway,  like the original look better myself.  And yes I am a little (or a lot according to my wife :)) redneck, and very proud of it actually :)

Gotta love the deer in the back of the truck with the 37 beer cans around it lol, never got the slitting the throat on bucks, most taxidermist will buy capes, or the people loping the heads of bull elk, those capes are worth some money

I agree with blacktail luv, picture them like they fell. Next we'll have to start carrying deer makeup for the picture. I hate all the political correctness in every aspect of life. I don't focus on the tongue or hole / blood, I always check out animal, rack and the smile on the persons face. I sure as hell ain't going to spend 15 minutes trying to stuff a swollen tongue back in a deers mouth or cut it out. Show it like it died and be proud. Mike
