I've been through every stage of rod repair/attempted repair... believe me when I say, unless it's a rod you are really attached to for some reason, you are probably better off getting a new one. That's not to say you don't have options:1. Cut it off, get new tip: it won't be close to the same rod you had...2. Try an insert type repair: see #1 above- probably wasted effort that close to the tip. Lower half of a heavier rod it's realistic.3. Return to manufacturer... if it's a higher end rod they may be able to sell you one if is not covered by a warrantee (and it sounds like it's not).4. Repair shop might have a tip to match...might not... could work out well but you'd need to get lucky... there are so many rods and they're all a little different.5. Buy another rod to match it. I started doing this when my boys were young (and hard on rods). Instead of getting 3 different rods- get 3 of the same so the halves are interchangable. My
