If you have not looked at the details of this bill... you should It looks like a ban on any weapon that is not specifically "allowed"

The Attorney General apparently has the ability to declare guns "non sporting".

Which means they could be intending to redefine the 2nd Amendment for "sporting purposes only".

They've completely turned things around. Instead of "banning"  specific weapons, all are assumed banned unless listed.

From what I've read in the pages of this bill the assault on Mr., Mrs., Ms., and Miss hunter, gun collector, fire arms enthusiast has started. The Democrats see light between the sheets and are going for the gold. This bill if allowed to pass will be the beginning of the end for gun ownership as I can remember.

Sisu that isn't the only one, there are 4 versions of this bill sitting in committees waiting.  I read all of them and the backup foot in the door bill that is more likely to pass.

I think I posted the bills and numbers in another thread I will see if I can find it.

I have been following gun rights issues since I got out of school almost 20 years ago. I have been a volunteer for NRA and the Friends/NRA, I have worked for 2 dealers part time, I was a VP at the local gun club and been very active in shooting competition.
I am not an expert by any means, but I've been around a bit.

Gun owners need to wake up........... We are about to get our asses kicked big time.

Most people will pay attention after it is too late. It will be a repeat of England. The marches will happen after the people have lost. That's my prediction. I watch complacent gun owners all the time. A lot of them are not very engaged in protecting their rights.

Here is my letter which I sent through the NRA at Site http://www.capwiz.com/nra/dbq/officials/?lvl=C

Quote
Dear Mr. Inslee,

As one of your voting constituents, I am writing to you to express my
disgust in a proposed House Bill. The Bill I am referring to is HR 6257.

It has been proven that violent criminals will never care about what laws
are written, and that restricting the rights of good citizens has no
effect on violent crime. Washington DC and New York are perfect examples,
with some of the highest crime and most restrictive gun laws in the nation.

As a voter, law abiding gun owner, shooter, firearms collector, hunter,
outdoorsman, and former serviceman, I find it necessary to contact my
representatives and remind you to represent your constituents as opposed
to treating them as your servent.

HR 6257 is a horrible, treasonous bill that would, among other things,
criminalize manufacture and sale of practically all semi-automatic
firearms, for no good reason and in direct opposition of our US
Constitution. I need your help in defending our Constitution from its
domestic enemies. I need you to vote against HR 6257 in any form. I also
ask that you speak against any such laws at the first opportunity, and use
your influence to prevent further introduction of the same in the House
when possible.

I personally will not stand for any elected official who tells me that
they are rational for regulating excessively against law abiding citizens
on gun ownership and sales in order to fight crime. The criminals are not
obeying the laws we have now. Therefore we don't need to make more laws we
need to start arresting and prosecuting the criminals in America. I will
vote 100% based upon my Constitutional Rights and that includes the 2nd
Amendment in the Bill of Rights.

Please continue to support law-abiding citizens, and our Constitution by
letting any co-sponsors know that the American people want crime control
and not more restrictive gun control as presented in HR 6257.

The 2nd Amendment of our Constitution is very clear, "…The right of the
people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter and thank you
for your service to our country and the State of Washington. As this is a
very actively discussed subject on the internet, be prepared to receive
other phone calls and letters, as I am one of many of your constituents
that feel the same about this type of outlandish proposed bill.

I look forward to your personal response.

Sincerely,

Offline croix

Ray,
You are well informed and well spoken (and I don't think your TOO paranoid  :chuckle:), so I hope you don't mind that I copied your letter virtually word-for-word and sent my own email to Mr. Inslee.

The way I read it, I don't think that HR 6257 is a ban on all weapons not specifically allowed, but I absolutely oppose ANY form of restriction which will provide a "foot in the door". Congress will continue to chip away at our rights until they have complete control if we don't do something.  >:( I found the links in this thread to be very informative and useful.

I was told a long time ago - "If you tell me there is a problem and you do something about it; then that is useful to me. If you come to me bitching that there is a problem but do nothing about it; then... you're just a bitch."

Contacting my representative is a pretty small effort, but it's better than being a bitch.
Live your life in such a way that if someone were to speak poorly of you, nobody would believe them.

Thanks for the list Runamuk,
I just got done writing Cantwell and Murray.

In Canada I read that less than 30% of the estimated number of guns owned were actually registered in the time limit given.
Don't sound like they like it much either.

The election was all about Bush and republicans, that slime bag Obama never said a damn word about what "change" he wanted. I think he picked Biden and Clinton(Sect. of State) to protect him self, kinda like insurance, if he dies it just gets worse!!!!!

I finnaly got around to reading the original link to the proposed bill.Seems they have missed a few on the allowed list, under slide action shotguns I noticed there are no Benellis listed,so would that make my super nova illegal if this passed? So a simple oversight in compiling this list could make me a criminal, yes I would be a criminal, there is no way in hell I'ld be handing it over.
