Interesting...where did you find that?  I see in the regs it says Apps/Avg pts but I did not see where they define what avg pts are...would not surprise me if they changed up some of their false advertising

Look at the regulations then look at the points used category.  Example Vulcan mountain sheep tag the recipient had 17 points the regulations show "average points" 10.

Interesting...this is probably a more honest/usable number than avg. pts of those who drew...

If true that is a more meaningful statistic. Average points of 10 for all Vulcan sheep apps means there are 120,000 names in the hat for 1 tag: 10 squared times 1200 apps. Pretty easy to figure our your odds for that one.

My neighbor (and practically my grandpa due to the length Ive know him) was one of the guys with 19.  He is going in this year with 20 and lets just say I am soooo rooting for him.  He is in his early 70's but the guy can still pack it on.  I would be jacked to watch him walk over with that huge smile just to tell me he finally drew.  Hell, after 19 years, he walks over anyway with a huge smile just to say he didn't draw.  After 19 years of waiting, apparently it is getting to be a joke to him.

All reality there just way too many people for these oil tags.
For the guys like me who put in since day 1 with 19 points. We
Have a chance but it's pretty low. If a guy is really counting
On a oil tag in this state they should be realistic and seriously
Save their money for an out state hunt while they are young
So they can do that dream hunt before they get too old for
The mtns. That is especially true with sheep and goats.

Having said that I wish you neighbor draws that moose tag this year.

I asked him why he has waited so long just to kill a moose!!  I told him that he could of probably drawn out of state or even just paid for one up in Alaskan by this time.  But he told me that it is more about hunting one in his own state as opposed to just killing a moose.  He agreed that this could of been done an easier way, but taking a shiras moose in Washington state is what his moose dreams are all about.  So I have to give him that one.
