A cool little muley buck
« on: November 26, 2008, 12:13:41 PM »
I decided to fill my tag on this 3x5 muley this morning.  There was a much bigger one with him that I could have shot, but this one had a broken leg and was limping badly, so I'm glad that I didn't shoot the big stud.  I didn't range him, but I shot it for 49 yards and hit right on.  He was quartering away hard and I broke the hindquarter, got the liver, one lung and the top of the heart, and he didn't go 30 yards.  I like the little drop tine...that makes it worth it to shoot the lesser of the two bucks!

Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

That is a cool looking rack on that buck.  I would have shot him to over the big buck.  Good thing you put him down so he wouldn't suffer.

Good call on going for the wounded buck rather than the bruiser.

Even though you passed on the bigger buck, you still have a nice deer. I like the rack on that one.
