eating fish eggs you caught
«

Is there any safety reason one should not eat them?
I am planning on throwing them in the fryer with the fish. My daughter caught a bullhead catfish and it had eggs and she wants to eat em. I don't see why not as long as they are cooked.

Catfish eggs are probably fine, but some fish you should not eat the eggs. We used to eat perch/bluegill eggs and I've made "caviar" out of salmon eggs.

Seems that gar and Cabezon are poisonous.

It is a pretty easy Google search.

Eat away,The only prob, I have ever read about any part of fish is just limitations on how much fish you eat from certain areas.I eat fish eggs almost everytime I fry up the fish.
(Just in case I am talking about normal game fish not some exotic fish that is deemed poisonous)LOL glad I put that just in case statement in there.

Poached salmon eggs. The bad ones will float and you can easily remove them.

Cook them till they all float, then toss the whole mess in the trash.

I fried em up and I overcooked em to make sure there were cooked. Kids said they tastes fine but they were a little dry. I didn't try them but I took a bite to my wife to try.

There is a guy that fishes shad at boneville every year. All he wants is the eggs. He milks the eggs into a jug and then gives the fish to others around him. He then takes them up to the parking lot and fries them in a skillet and eats them

There only good if you remove them quickly from the fish and throw them in a zip lock bag. Then open the skeins and sprinkle with pro-glow or Akermans double hot and let them juice up.

I like fish eggs. I buy caviar all the time, next time I get fish with eggs I'll make caviar myself.
Last year I fried eggs from pinks I caught. Didn't like it fried up in a pan, but I'll def eat them.
