I believe United States Postal Service doesn't allow shipment of loaded ammo or anything explosive.  Other carriers are good to go but I don't think USPS allows it. 

Also, not that anyone cares but I'll vent and rant for a bit, that BS tax Wa. charges when you purchase firearms out of state is just that, total and complete BS!!!  Luckily, the FFL I use only charges $20 to do transfers unlike most that charge $35+

I have, a couple of times.  I think she's pissed at me and doesn't want to hear it.  She's had to hand carry 2000 230 grain led cast bullets up my driveway, that I had mailed from Missouri bullet company.  Hard to convince her they aren't loaded 'bullets', when the company it's shipped from has 'bullet' in their name.  That weighed just a little bit more than your normal Christmas card.     Having to work to earn her paycheck was more than she wanted to do.

Maybe b23 is correct and the USPS cannot ship ammunition. I could have been thinking of UPS, because I know I've ordered ammo online before and had it shipped to my house. Maybe the mail lady is correct.

No, mail lady was wrong.  She was only delivering spent shells and the led bullet that I was going to reload.  She was making the assumption that they were the complete thing.

You can ship the components like the shells and the bullets through the mail.  You can't ship powder, primer, or completed bullets that are ready to fire, through the mail.  Powder, primers and completed bullets have to go through UPS, and maybe Fedex, and be sent as hazardous materials.
