How to hook light biting Sturgeon (video and pics)
« on: December 01, 2008, 10:06:12 PM »
On Saturday, we were getting a ton of light biters that would go away as soon as we picked up the rod (not too uncommon for this time of year). So, we decided to have some fun with it. We call this the flyline hookset.  :chuckle:

Well, he didn't really miss, but it wasn't a Sturgeon either...here is the catch next to the bait.

He also hooked a shaker sturgeon with this method Saturday, and we have hooked numerous other Sturgeon using this method.  :)

Instead of picking up the rod and waiting for the bite, he just put his hand under the line, waited for the bite, and jerked on the line. Basically, its something to do to keep us entertained.  :chuckle:

WOW.. thats all I can say, that would however be interesting if when doing that you hooked a real sturgeon and it ripped line off the reel.. and well one can imagine how your hand might look, not to mention you get very little if any hook penetration doing something like that... but if your that bored sturg fishing.. might want to move spots....... ;)
