So I drew a cow tag for Turnbull National Wildlife refuge.  I live close to the area and plan to do some scouting and talking to people over the summer but i'm looking for any tips for hunting this area.  My hunt runs from Nov 25 to 8 Dec.  Thanks for the help!

Not a whole lot of scouting you can do in there as far as I know. They tell you which area to hunt. I think you can go in just a few days prior and take one buddy, but they have to be with you during the hunts.

You have to go online and print off their "permission slip" to hunt. I believe it needed to be turned in by June 12th or 21st. I would call them immediately.

20 years?  They have only been offering special permits for the Turnbull refuge for a few years.  Unless they did many years ago, this tag is less than 5 years old.

That's true.  I considered applying a few years ago but after reading all of their rules and stuff I didn't want the hassle.  I'm sure it could be a great hunt for someone willing to follow their rules though.

there has been some sort of permit hunt for 30 years !! study up guys ,anyway that's something I've always put in for because of the way those animals are fed if they aren't being hand fed by tourists they are fed by fish and feathers and if they don't feed them the Henderson ranch is feeding them ,these darn critters are hand fed grains all year and they have adapted TO IT VERY WELL,the part I don't get is that fishn feathers is paying the Henderson's to feed them !!I guess they got a deal after saying that the elk were eating there cattle feed for tears and they finally won ,boy did they ask them if you get a chance how much they make on paid hunts on there land, or better yet if you ever run into Ted Nugent ask him how many thousands he paid. ( study that ! )    LETS GET SCOUTN !!! :chuckle: :chuckle: :bash: :bash:
