Pack for Cabelas Alaska Frame

I was wondering if anyone knows of a pack that i could use with my Cabelas Alaska Frame. I know they sell the combo (pack/frame), but I only have the frame.

I thought you could buy just the bag from Cabelas?

I save several pounds by attaching a dry bag I sewed some mesh pockets on.  The pack only weighs about 1/2 lb.

Another good option might be the Golite Jam 70L.  I have one that I strap to the frame and use for a daypack.

Unfortunately they don't sell just the bags. What I ended up doing was using the pack off of an older Kelly frame. It was originally connected using detachable pins. The pack frame extension had to be removed from the cabelas frame to allow the pins to go through the frame. The top pins went through the pre existing holes at the top of the frame and I had to drill one more set of small holes. The bottom of the bag I used some paracord to attach to the cross beams. It's worked well for several years. I'll try to find a picture

I have the pack that goes on it.  Its the Alaskan II.  I only use the frame so if you interested PM me and we can figure something out.

You could attach a good rope to top of frame, tied hard, then basket hitch a dry bag or meat sack, or all your raingear super tight to the frame. Works much like a Decker pack saddle I used to pack on. Youd cargo that stuff down tight compressed wise after youd manty it.  Ived down it in the Selway for a twelve dayer. Works slick if you gotta hunt out of a frame.  Like we used to say aftrr loading the mules up, an everything was tip top..." Id take it down the trail."

Thanks for all the advise. I'm leaning towards the dry bag option along with my day pack. I'm packing in to our base camp which is 7 miles in where i'll be able to drop the frame. I got selected quality bull this year in goose prairie with 5 points!

Mountain walk: Is the idea of hanging the dry bad off the top of the frame to keep the weight centered on the frame?

Not so much hanging.....the tied hard rope would be your upper left corner, right?   Lay the load on the frame, under the rope, then run rope to other side, then dow behind the load.. Cinch this tight, and finish off with a packers knot.   Look up decker packing, and itll show u better than I can tell u

I rigged my pack up like this.  I just run compression straps from one vertical bar to the other.  It's a dry bag that I took a mesh bag and sewed to the outside with elastic for easy access pockets.
