Blue MTS West Late Rifle
« on: June 24, 2014, 10:35:00 AM »
Hey Guys, I drew this tag and know the area a little from my time when I went to WSU and did some hunting down there. I'm not looking for your area, just looking for some advise. Am I better off hunting high on the edge of the National forest or down lower and asking for permission on private ground. I did a search on the forum here and found some good information and PM'd a few of you. If you have any insight on what to expect I would appreciate it, or if you have had the tag previously, how your hunt went? Pm's welcome
Thanks,
Jeff

Some of what you are asking is going to be weather dependant. My advice is to try and cover both bases. Scout as much as you can. That is a great permit and some great deer are killed on it. Congratulations.

Just head on over the evening before the hunt starts and knock on some farmers doors at dinner time.  They'll be happy to accomidate you as long as you establish how far you've driven for this hunt from the west side.

I would focus more on the Walla Walla area or down south of Dayton and don't ask to hunt on my land cause I have that tag as well.

Last piece of advice is to get out knock on doors, tough part is that this requires multiple trips over there as much of the land is 1,000 acre chunks of land owners which is pretty much nothing.

Any youth, senior, disabled folks draw this tag that maybe do not get around so well?  If you are (or know of someone) shoot me a PM.

Drew this tag with my son and daughter  :) looking forward to enjoying some time in a great area with my dad and the kids. Probably the best part about drawing the tags is being able to hunt together with very little pressure and the opportunity for one of us to get a nice animal.

:chuckle: I'm still waiting for the punchline because this statement was obviously a joke.
