I've never heard of a fisherman regretting the purchase of electric downriggers. ......unless of course you're brand biased

Ilike the manuals,used them in the salt..electrics are fine for some folk and easier Im sure,but....simplicity and no fear of electrical problems is good for me..This river fishing is new to me so I will have a blast learning out there,curing up shrimp today,I have what I need for kings and sockeye so woo whoo lets get fishing

I've had 3 different brands of electric downriggers and a bunch of manual ones.  Never, ever, regretted having the electrics, especially when fishing alone or with an inexperienced fisherman who needed help handling a fish.  Hit the buttons and start reeling.  I have manuals now and can't wait till the budget allows me to buy another set of electrics.  You will love them.

I got my first set this year and with I would have done it sooner if I knew how much fun they are and how they increased our fishing. We have been using 200 feet of wire out in the ocean.

I got a Scotty electric for my birthday and got it wired and set up this weekend.    I haven't used either electric or manual so I'm in for a learning curve but looking forward to it.

Very cool video! Thats a great idea.    Now....I was confused why he had his ball attached that way. I attach my ball where he had his release and my release where he was hooked to the down rigger ? Anyway, I hook my balls up the complete opposite of the guy in the video, I there a wrong or right way to do it? I thought it would track better how I do it.

Lol, nobody I've ever seen or heard of would rig their weights up the way he did.

I rig my release the same way he does. Works well for me. Got a good laugh out of the drill video.

Really? I thought the purpose of the large fin is to keep the ball from rotating. If the ball rotates while descending your fishing line can wrap abound the cable. That Sucks. I think I will start hooking above the ball like someone posted earlier in this thread.
