I reported one 2 years ago in the central cascades. It's still open. I'd report it for sure. There are definitely studies being done on these critters west of the crest. Mt. Adams is a big area they're targeting them with hair snags and trail cameras. The state would definitely appreciate a report.

They (WAFG/DNR/USFS) have run live trap/tagging studies for several years now throughout Washington.  It's all public knowledge, and the stats can be found and studied.  They only catch a handful each year near Hart's Pass/Mazama.  They've run a few live traps over here in the Kettle Range but I don't think they've been successful on a catch yet.  The WAFG have video of one in the NE corner of the Colville Nat'l Forest in Feb of '11 I believe.  It's public knowledge and on their YouTube channel.  From the GPS tracking, it's not uncommon for one to range from roughly Winthrop to Penticton, BC and back in a month.

If you ever get to see one run there is no mistaking what it is.  Saw one 25 years ago in Oregon in the Stott Mtn Unit.  Game department told me I was crazy.  I gave them pictures of the foot prints with quarters for reference.  They told me after looking at the photos they concluded the person who took the photos was from Alaska.  "I took the photos myself, you jack wagons!  In Oregon!  Why would I lie about that?"  Never heard anything more from them and never saw him again.

I am with the game department and that is not a Wolverine, it is a Coyoterine.

saw one cycling NE washington 1990.  I was running with this weird bobbing like lope.  A first I thougth what the hell is a dog doing way out here.  then it turned and and I saw the bushy tail and told my friend who was a biologist.  he did  not believe me and said you saw a badager.  ? a tall brown badger that runs with a bobbing gait and long legs
