How hard is it to install a frame hitch?
« on: July 28, 2014, 07:26:23 PM »
I have a 2012 Subaru Forester(I know hippie car, but I opted against the Obama sticker they give you at the dealership :chuckle:)
I would like to add a frame hitch so I can pull a small trailer and also use a rack on the back to haul a cooler and firewood when camping.

How easy are they to install? Couple bolts? Any recommended brands? The dealerships want like $600 installed and I can buy the same one online for like $200

Thanks

Not hard at all. Put one on my wife's Caravan in about an hour.

Easy, just remember to use the "Grade of Bolts recommended" and not some local hardware China made stuff. And make sure know wires are near the bolt hole. I've done it twice with only one issue I caught the fuel pump line under a washer and shorted it out, that is why I said know where your wires are.  :twocents:

Get a kit specifically made for the vehicle that includes the hardware and it is probably just about the easiest thing to do on a vehicle.
