hunting new pups for there first season?

Anyone have a recommendation on how to hunt pups for their first season? Neither of my two pups strike so should i just fre cast? And i wanna put them in a good situation where theres plenty of coons any recommendations for a area to go look into/scout out? Any and all advice is appreciated

If you can find and go with another houndsmen with an experienced hound you'll be miles ahead and lots of frustration missed.  But makes sure a few things, make sure the hound is not ill in any way, is 100% trash broke, and has no bad habits at the tree.  I would recommend hunting one pup at a time with a dead broke hound, otherwise the two of them will most like get in trouble together.  Try and set up situation that will not set them back.  Never correct them unless you are 100% certain they are chasing off game.  99% sure, don't shock them.

Free casting pups is a recipe for disaster unless you can stay right with them every step of the way, which is hard to do.
