Entiat Late modern rifle buck hunt

I'm hoping for snow but I'm also kinda nervous of the snow and mud...   With how much people say that they can get so bad. I'm planning on getting chains all around and wouldn't mind just putting them on and leaving them on if there's any snow/mud etc. Am I going to be pretty much good with that setup?

Are there any specific roads that I should just stay off of completely if there's snow/mud? If anyone can tell me roads to avoid almost certain death that would be awesome

If you go up oklahoma gulch or Stelico those hills can be slippery. I have chained up sideways before cause i have said piece of cake. Atleast chain up the front. All 4 would be better. Dont think just case you have exspensive wheels and tires you can go anywhere. Good Luck have a great time. Camp up thee if you can its a great time.

Cool, thanks for the info Jstone. I'll have to check out those roads soon so I have an idea of what I would be getting into when the weather's bad. Yeah planning on camping/living up there as much as possible!

The funny thing is that I thought the deer he killed was a super stud deer.  I know it's by no means a B&C record holder, but seriously it takes more than hard work and a good tag for that anyways.... It takes a lot of luck!

It was a good buck and if he thought it was such crap, he should have let it walk.   Doesn't show much for his character.  that thread was interesting to say the least.

I re read that thread and it was all over the place.  In the end I think he shot a nice buck.  I assume he passed a few like that through out the hunt hoping for the 170-180 that he wanted and in the end shot that one as a "last day buck".  I am glad that he got a buck and disappointed he wasn't happier with it.  He should have been happy to get one.  25 tags in an area doesn't always mean 25 filled tags, it is hunting.

Anyways to those of you that have the tag this year... good luck, hunt hard, hope for snow but don't get discouraged if there is none.  Those bucks can still be found, it is just a little tougher.  If you see deer in an area one day keep checking it, new deer will move in.  If you bump a deer one day, go back to that area, odds are he will still be around, sometimes a day or two later but keep checking.

My dad drew it as well, should be an awesome hunt. Have property in the unit and will be up there the whole season!! Enjoy seeing the animals, glass, put some miles on the boots, they are still around without snow but if it does be prepared with chains and winch that can be attached to front or back! Just have fun and it'll be successful!

Good luck! I have the chiwawa permit and it should be a good hunt with this weather pushing in. I had the same permit 5 yrs ago and it really got good the second weekend on. I'm going to start hunting the second weekend. Keep us updated on what you are seeing!

I just hope that I don't shoot the first nice buck I see and then it's all over... haha! I don't think I will, but it might be hard! either way it will be great!

I ordered a spotting scope camera adaptor, so hopefully I'll be able to share the deer porn with ya'll.

Thanks!! I'm going to get an adaptor for my spotter as well!!  You may need someone to hold your ammo for the first couple of days!! But when you see "him" you will know!
