Less than two weeks left for the ML general deer opener... who's ready? I have my Knight Bighorn sighted in, pack loaded up, speed loaders full, opening day can't come soon enough. I drew a 2nd deer tag (doe only) so I am hoping to fill that tag pretty quickly. I am hunting eastern WA in the open sagebrush (love spot and stalk). I also drew a cow elk tag for the general early season opening a week later.  I had 3000 pictures of elk from a month long soak of my trail cam in my elk area. With any luck I will get some meat in the freezer this year.

My Dad and I will be headed to my property in the Okanogan highlands on the 26th and hopefully i can connect with a nice four point muley that's been sleeping below my trailer. I will also be using a Knight bighorn.

I am getting hunting fever something bad... it is all I can do to focus on work... 
I am shooting a Knight Mountaineer this year, and I love it.  I have two deer tags (which I intend to attach to some whitetails) and a cow elk tag, and hopefully I will fill a couple of those!

elkboy - I have heard some people say that had issues with primers not going off with the mountaineer, have you ran into that?

Not yet!  I have only had it for a short while, so there is still time to discover challenges, but I purchased it secondhand (and in perfect condition) from a very respected individual in the muzzleloading community.   I am shooting musket caps in it, and have not had a misfire yet! 

I have shot a Bighorn since the 2008 season, and I love that gun.

At any rate, my lady is rolling her eyes on a daily basis with all of my preparation and scouting out on the deer ground.  I keep reminding her how good backstrap and tenderloin are...

Not ready and I am going fishing for some saltwater silvers this weekend! Then I will hit the woods, figured I would keep it close here in 666 as the unit is either sex ML deer close to home. We still have three group Satsop ML doe tag draws as an ace kicker card!
Hunting partner has the handicap/disabled permit and he holds one Satsop tag, he made me his primary for both deer and elk so we are going to be busy this year. So back to the fishing gear punch list for this weekend!

got one more weekend to hunt bear, then I'll focus on muzzleloader . But I have a stack of wood ready to go up to deer camp, can't wait to put a stalk on a nice mule deer

Soady, so many seasons, so little time!  Good luck on the silvers, and then the local blacktails and elk!  Very good of you to help your buddy out on the freezer filler.  n_mathews13, sounds like a classic hunt- campfires by night and mule deer spotting by day!   

I am mentoring a new hunter under the deferral program this year, and I am honestly much more excited about her getting her first deer than me filling any of my tags.  Going to be a great time...  My living room is covered with camo clothing, camo netting, pack frames, and muzzy gear.  One more visit to the rifle range on Sunday.  I'm like a little kid waiting for Christmas at this point!   Good luck everyone.

So do you have your Mountaineer all set for the season?  I am thinking about running to the Rock pit this morning with the Super DISC just to do some confirmation on POI...  I really wish it would rain so I could go to the farm.  The wheat stubble is still standing and I fear that I could possibly start a darn field fire - so back to the rock pit.

Hey Sabotloader- yes, I have the Mountaineer all set to go (3" group at 100 yards with 300 gr. Bloodlines).  That taller front post was just the trick to get back into the midrange of the Williams peep.  And the FireSight hood still fit on there just fine.  Wish I could go with you today- there's just this little conflict called "work"!    And yes, we do need rain.
