The 5D mark III? That should be approaching the end of its life cycle and I bet there will be screaming deals in November for Christmas season.  Iirc you could get it close to $2Ksans lens last year. I got my 6D last Nov for $1,500 along with an extra battery,  camera bag, memory card, monopod, and some other trinket I cant remember at this time.  6D doesn't have the myriad sports/wildlife cross type auto focus points like the 1DX, 5DmIII, and 7D but does have every bit of full frame goodness to include ridiculously good low light performance and high ISO quality  :IBCOOL:

I'm trying to get away from the crop sensor thing for some more macro stuff.   I like the 7D with sports.  Pretty fast.

That brings up a question I've been curious about.  Looks like a good time to ask the experts;  Is there any difference between card quality/manufacture?  I know one of my cameras seems to be Cannon specific, but when it comes to SD cards is one any better than the other?
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Probably :chuckle:      I don't use any of the expensive high end ones, or the generic low shelf ones.   The common name brand stuff at cost-co or wherever seem to work just fine.

I mostly use San Disk which I guess is the standard of sorts. It goes on sale regularly at Costco. One thing to keep in mind if you're shooting sports or wildlife with these bagillion gigapixel cameras is that the card speed can be a limiting factor when shooting bursts or HD video. My primary card is a 32GB high speed card that can write up to 80MB per second. That sounds like a lot, but if you shoot 4 frames per second with 20MB raw files you're actually topped out.

So I goggled the 7D.  They claim the 7D mark ii just came out yesterday.  its supposed to be the best thing ever. I found two prices though.  1799 and 2499...  ?  I'll have to research more but I'm gonna pick one up.  Between the kids and hunting I think it'll get its use.  I need compact video I cant see myself carrying a huge camera around.  the video ive seen on it looks amazing.  thanks for the tips guys.  Bean go fill that bull tag!!!  then get some pics.

Thanks bone.  I just see your pics and cant stand all the shots I miss every year.  You inspire me to capture these moments.  I never get field photos either cause of no timer camera.  maybe before Idaho this year I can swing it but its going to be tough.  Any more pics for us bone?

I'll see what I can do.   FOr some reason these were still on my laptop.  I have to dump most of them to an external drive or it clogs up my harddrive.

That you will appreciate most are the captures of your family.   I learned from my childhood and my mother and photos how important it was to document it all.   My kids have a very documented life and its pretty priceless really.

Top picture is about 200 yrds away and the second is about 100 or less ..I think it is more about the camera than the memory card ..Just from looking at how clear Bone's pictures are ..
