First Elk!
«

This is my second year Elk hunting. Hunting in GMU166 opening weekend was frustrating to say the least. Wind, rain, and snow and no animals not even a deer or chipmunk. Weather finally cleared up on Monday and I announced at Elk camp "Today is the day!". left Elk camp and walked in about a mile when there sits at 600 yards a lone spike Elk now cows no other bulls just one spike. I got down the hill as fast as I could. I got to 360 yards and that was as close as I was going to get. BOOM! lung and heart shot. So pumped to have my first Elk.

What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job." Congrats!! You may shoot some bigger and some may be smaller, BUT, one thing is for sure, you'll always remember, THAT, one. Congrats again.
For what it's worth, that hat sure would look a lot better if it had some pinstripes.....
