It really doesn't have to do with antler size.....

Have you ever been in the woods maybe watching a medium size buck and a few does during the rut and all of a sudden the woods go quiet, the does stop and look up and that nice medium size buck just kind of wonders off?  Then, out comes "mr. big", his neck is as stiff as a board, his belly hangs low and he is a little staunch in the joints.  Everything in the woods, not just the deer, kind of tips their hat to him as it is a rare moment that his rack sees the light of day.  That's what I look for this time of year.

I'm a fan of MASS, and a classic 5 by 5 whitetail, or 4 by 4 mule deer.

I haven't got very many deer and so my favorite attribute is a buck with steady crosshairs on his vitals.  Anything big would be great, but if 'pretty good' comes along and tempts me for very long I get itchy trigger finger quick.
Disappointments are inevitable, misery is optional.

I like height first and width second.  Nothing goofier looking than a wide whitetail without the tine length.

This is a buck from last year.  I have pictures of him this year but won't post until I kill him.

Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

like this?

He does have short tines, but if he shows up this year id gladly take him. He has the body of a horse, old buck on the downhill ride.

?? It gets a bit harder to tell after 4.5, his body dwarfs the other 3.5 -4.5 year olds in this spot. He hasn't shown up this year?? was hoping he made it threw the winter and predators.....
