Colockum cow permit harvest ?
« on: November 05, 2014, 08:53:40 PM »
So with the large number of antlerless(cow)elk permits issued in the Colockum this year, most believed it would be a slaughter up there.  I'm hearing of a lot of people that were not able to notch this tag (self included  :( )

Curious how hard of a hit this herd took.

I drew a rifle cow tag in the colockum this year, but I also drew a bull tag. So I went and got a bull.

0-3 for us in archery. Fire took out our spot and couldn't get close enough to get a shot off. Oh well we have late.

When the department increased the number of permits I thought they could give out 1000 and they would kill the same 50 as in years past. (Im speaking on the manastas unit) but by increasing the number from 250 to 400 did sell more applications. Heck you don't need elk meat  you have moose meat.....

Had no modern tag, but I had 3 different times where I could have dropped 1 in 5 days.

The two tags in our archery group went unfilled, not for the lack of opportunity.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

We saw 3-4 other cows down. Checked by a nice DFW officer named Mr. Mann
