Oregon Applegate Muzzie Blacktail
« on: November 09, 2014, 08:42:37 AM »
My brother and I drew tags for the applegate late blacktail hunt Nov 24-Dec 7. Getting out of the Oregon points game was part of the idea but this is actually a pretty good blacktail tag to draw, think we had a 9 point average. I think we are going down the last week of the hunt and have some info from past tag holders as to where to start looking. Almost to the Cali border so they rut a little later down there they say. Got my new CVA Accura sighted in and ready to go. Anyone on here have this tag in the past or any info they want to share? Tks nwhunter

From what I understand it is best to hunt the edge of the private land. Best to concentrate around the T-day time frame when they are rutting.
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

A friend of mine hunted that tag last year and was successful. I will see what he has to share.

It was a fun but tough hunt. Went 1 for 2. I got a 19 inch 4x3 descent buck. Saw a couple dandies that I would have loved to have got but thats hunting. Country was steep and rut was about over and full moon all combined to make us have to work pretty hard for what we got. I will post a pic later on havent even looked at them yet.
