Ice fish'n
« on: November 17, 2008, 05:06:36 PM »
Anyone out there like to Ice fish...I sure do, and I am hoping it freezes up real good this year so I can do a good bit of it. I know what yer thinkin...we arent even close to that kind of cold yet...yeah but I like to get my mind set early...so I was wondering if anyone out there ever uses night crawlers for Ice fishing...so far i have never even once seen anyone on the Ice with crawlers...most people just use maggots or meal worms...I myself like to use glowing jigs w/ maggots...but I dont see why nightcrawlers wouldn't work just fine either...any thoughts on that??? see ya on the Ice... :)

when i lived back in upstate new york, we used to ice fish like crazy every year. we could set out 10 tip-ups a piece plus a jig-rod. we usually used live minnows which we can't use here. i still have the tip ups and everything to go with them, but as near as i can tell...we can only use 1 rod per person in wa.
i have not ice-fished since i moved here in 1997.
where do people ice-fish here?

I used to go out to sprague lake a few years back, but it had been going down hill for the last few years...seems like the crappie were all stunted...but I guess I dont have to worry about it now...seeing as they poisoned the lake...I guess there were too many walleye and nobody could catch them???...anyway, I like to do some Ice fish'n for perch and crappie and bass but I dont know where to go around spokane...I have lived in Cheney for a little over a year now actually...I hear things about Eloika lake...

Fish lake is a great place to go.  I used to go out there with my grandpa when I was younger.  Lots of perch to be caught out there.

I heard that the fishing this year is GREAT. Rainbows or kokanee, not sure. Call the WDFW to find out what they planted after the big kill off last year.
Here is a link on the report of what they did and such.

yeah theres been a whole crap load of people , mostly Russians , out at Sprague bank fishing for the past 7 weeks or so...the trout fishing is doing well, but I think that that is all that's in the lake right now....but come spring time they will put bass and panfish in there...and then 5 years from now it might be fun to fish it again...OK maybe 3 years...but I need a fish'n fix sooner rather than later, so I suppose that Sprague lake trout'n just isn't gonna cut it for me :twocents:
