That's what I needed I suppose, a good butt-whooping As I said to each their own and I don't hate anyone, and I really don't want to be the enemy of us, that makes me feel horrible. And of course there are 18 other things I didn't consider. I'm a *censored*. Also I just helped a disabled veteran hunter get a doe last weekend. Having a bad day doesn't give me an excuse to be a *censored* but maybe a reason to be forgiven...eventually?
I find it funny when people complain about "road hunters". Most of the time people are driving, on roads of all things, while entering and leaving the woods. Oh, and when they drive from one location to another. Are they road hunters or hunters driving on the road? To most, it appears as there is no difference. Now if they are creeping along in granny gear and won't let you by, then you might be right in calling them road hunters, BUT just because they stop to glass or creep slow along a cut on their way to another area... that does not mean they are road hunter. And if you are in the woods, who cares if they road hunt? Is it because road hunters shoot animals spooked by hunters in the woods? lol Not often, and if you spooked a deer to a road hunter then maybe you need to work on your own methods rather than bash someone else's.

So this is the backcountry forum...what comes to mind when you read the subject "Whole Deer"? I'll expand...whole deer in the back of a truck, whole deer on the back of an ATV, whole deer on the side of a logging road. What are your thoughts? The first things that come to my mind are: road hunters, you sure worked hard for that one, tough pack out eh?, and again, road hunters...By my nature I jump to negative conclusions. I know there are circumstances when you simply get a whole animal out due to sheer luck (e.g. you blast one near uphill of a logging road, shoot an elk in an open field on the coast, you're driving down a road in the mountains, etc). Also I understand that not all hunts can be backcountry hunts, see Entiat late hunts or other hunts with roads everywhere.I understand that some (many) people don't hunt hardcore or pack into the backcountry but I've found that nowadays any picture of whole deer (other than those in the field) draw virtually no interest for me. Not that their not nice animals but am I supposed to admire your hunting skill because you filled the truck/ATV with gas that morning? That being said I killed a deer road hunting this year but I'm not bragging about it and my partner and I admitted that we were "Dirtbag road hunters" before the got in the truck, not to mention we were on our way home after we'd spend 4 days camping in the snow at 9,500' and actually hunting. I also feel like I don't want to be a killer. I want to be a hunter, I want it to be difficult, I want to be hurt afterwards, if I am to take another life I should suffer as well. Also with a relatively new wife and a new kid (aka baby) my future undoubtedly holds many hours of finding easy, non-backcountry, killing hunts. Of course the great hope is those easy hunts will lead to a desire for more hunting and less killing...So I guess the easy answer is "To each their own", right? And maybe we should be happy that tens of thousands more people don't know that backcountry hunting isn't "hunting" at all, it's a religion. Perhaps going against the spirit of organized religion I should not condemn people who don't have the same beliefs as I do. -Backcountry AddictPS: BLUEBULLS is 100% responsible for this uppity post because he created a monster when he made me go on a backpack hunt with himConsider yourself lucky sir.....Someday you won't be able to be all *censored* and cool. Someday you might just consider yourself lucky to just get through a work week without barfing. The shiny slick stuff in your hips, knees and shoulders won't be there forever...Are you still gonna be all cool then?My guess is at some point you will be faced with a decision. Either Quit hunting or join the evil ranks of Roadhunters you hate so much.
