While I don't agree with the original post, what I can take away from this is; this is the backcountry section, and it would be nice to keep the posts more relevant to backcountry hunting.

I am the furthest thing from a road Hunter, to be honest I wish everyone was a road Hunter, less people in the woods that way :chuckle: however, the guys that know me know that chopping up an animal just isn't gonna happen, I have drug deer for some serious miles to get them out whole, I few years ago I cut one In half and it still bothers me, but I definitely ain't gonna whine if someone does cut it up to pack it out .. everyone is different dude..

You have nothing to be forgiven for, we all have bad days. The whole "Enemy cartoon", was in reference to legal hunters attacking legal hunters..... if we as a whole, don't get off our perches, we will lose a lot more.

That's what I needed I suppose, a good butt-whooping As I said to each their own and I don't hate anyone, and I really don't want to be the enemy of us, that makes me feel horrible. And of course there are 18 other things I didn't consider. I'm a *censored*. Also I just helped a disabled veteran hunter get a doe last weekend. Having a bad day doesn't give me an excuse to be a *censored* but maybe a reason to be forgiven...eventually?
Good on you! We all have those days. At least you're man enough to own up to it. I just think we should all keep an open mind when it comes to other people's hunting methods.

While I'm sure there are many things we agree/disagree on Mr MyKiss, I have mad respect for you.

Not because you agree or disagree with me but because you are able to say, "maybe it's just one of those days..."

I've been there, done that and got the T-Shirt to prove it  :chuckle:
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

I shot both my deer very close this year.  Climbed mountains, hiked the woods, probably put 30 miles on this season and both deer were easy in the end, one a 30 yd. drag and one 175 yd. drag.  I had my pack board but did not have to use it.  Drug the one out myself after walking 2 minutes, killing it, gutting it on my own.  The only thing I got help for was getting it in the truck.  I was proud of both deer and both hunts! I had 4 days off to hunt the east side and all the rest were after working 8 hours then hunting. Not every hunt has to be hard! Just sayin.

I think mykiss' posts are usually very reasonable and thoughtful...he apologized for a post he apparently did not think through after a bad day...that is very admirable imo.

I find it funny when people complain about "road hunters".

Most of the time people are driving, on roads of all things, while entering and leaving the woods. Oh, and when they drive from one location to another. Are they road hunters or hunters driving on the road? To most, it appears as there is no difference. Now if they are creeping along in granny gear and won't let you by, then you might be right in calling them road hunters, BUT just because they stop to glass or creep slow along a cut on their way to another area... that does not mean they are road hunter.

And if you are in the woods, who cares if they road hunt? Is it because road hunters shoot animals spooked by hunters in the woods? lol Not often, and if you spooked a deer to a road hunter then maybe you need to work on your own methods rather than bash someone else's.
:yeah:
so here it si the anual I hate road hunter thread ok so were banning road hunters now? make it a felony?
If so I want in Ban baiting all together If you can't walk and look for deer without putting out apples and or such then your not hunting you baiting and shooting.
Treestands ban em if your too darned fat to walk then your too darned fat for that small tree.
Blinds Oh my dont' even get me started on that people sit in a small tent or building and shoot an animal how low you gota be.
People that use 4 wheelers and or motorcycles while hunting get off the darned things and walk down the hill.
Heres one how about you leave people alone then.
Road hunting done right is a valuable tool it's more than ust drinking beer and joy riding which btw joy riding isn't against the law drinking and driving is but not joy riding. But road hunting doesn't neccessarily mean all your doing is driving slow it means you might be looking at the road to see where an animal might have crossed and then go after it if it's fresh enough. Old fashioned road hunting is that not just joy riding. But even if so whats wrong with that? seems to me you've got it all wrong we used to make fun of all the ones who drove so fast they missed things like a deer standing not 50 yards away.
so again shutt the heck up or we all lose. >:(

Excuse my rant. I'll try and keep myself contained. So this is the backcountry forum...what comes to mind when you read the subject "Whole Deer"? I'll expand...whole deer in the back of a truck, whole deer on the back of an ATV, whole deer on the side of a logging road. What are your thoughts?
The first things that come to my mind are: road hunters, you sure worked hard for that one, tough pack out eh?, and again, road hunters...
By my nature I jump to negative conclusions. I know there are circumstances when you simply get a whole animal out due to sheer luck (e.g. you blast one near uphill of a logging road, shoot an elk in an open field on the coast, you're driving down a road in the mountains, etc). Also I understand that not all hunts can be backcountry hunts, see Entiat late hunts or other hunts with roads everywhere.
I understand that some (many) people don't hunt hardcore or pack into the backcountry but I've found that nowadays any picture of whole deer (other than those in the field) draw virtually no interest for me. Not that their not nice animals but am I supposed to admire your hunting skill because you filled the truck/ATV with gas that morning? That being said I killed a deer road hunting this year but I'm not bragging about it and my partner and I admitted that we were "Dirtbag road hunters" before the got in the truck, not to mention we were on our way home after we'd spend 4 days camping in the snow at 9,500' and actually hunting. I also feel like I don't want to be a killer. I want to be a hunter, I want it to be difficult, I want to be hurt afterwards, if I am to take another life I should suffer as well.
Also with a relatively new wife and a new kid (aka baby) my future undoubtedly holds many hours of finding easy, non-backcountry, killing hunts. Of course the great hope is those easy hunts will lead to a desire for more hunting and less killing...
So I guess the easy answer is "To each their own", right? And maybe we should be happy that tens of thousands more people don't know that backcountry hunting isn't "hunting" at all, it's a religion. Perhaps going against the spirit of organized religion I should not condemn people who don't have the same beliefs as I do.     -Backcountry Addict

PS: BLUEBULLS is 100% responsible for this uppity post because he created a monster when he made me go on a backpack hunt with him

Consider yourself lucky sir.....Someday you won't be able to be all *censored* and cool. Someday you might just consider yourself lucky to just get through a work week without barfing.

The shiny slick stuff in your hips, knees and shoulders won't be there forever...Are you still gonna be all cool then?

My guess is at some point you will be faced with a decision. Either Quit hunting or join the evil ranks of  Roadhunters you hate so much.
wow didn't realise this was the original post.
To be fair if this was parof the archery or other pars of this forum most who lambasted this guy would yay his ran't against road hunters.
SOme of you I have seen do just that too >:(
but ya this guy needs unknot his undies and leave people alone.
I got a decent 4pt two years ago and got it whole to the truck, but wasn't road hunting. I'd gotten lucky and seen this deer coming over a ridge about 200 yards or so from where I started out at. So I walked more like trotted over to where I'd seen it but keeping my head low so as to not scare it off. I got to the draw it went in at and stood and waited in hopes he'd jump out of the brush which is exactly what he did. so had a 200 yard drag by myself just 10-20 yard at a time. So guess just because I seen him not 20 yards from pickup but had to walk 200 yards to where and drag him back woudl make me a dirt bag road hunter.
I say leave it all alone if you don't want it banned hunting itself is to fail anyhows but don't need your help.
