and another goes in the freezer!
« on: November 16, 2014, 04:02:08 PM »
With 2 tags left in our group we headed out this morning to try and fill them...lots of pumpkins going around..walking down ridges we were glassing, parking on the road by us and practically yelling at each other...some not wearing hunters orange and hunting  :bash: we didn't let that bother us and continued our hunt....we seen almost 20 in the first hour but no head gear....1030 rolls around and I told my buddy its almost prime time....11-1 Is what I've always told him....the big bucks get up to feed/chase the does that get up to feed. Well 11:15 2 deer are spotted coming out of the timber and then a third comes out....I have the vortex razor  spotter on him and he lifts his head and see he's a nice buck...my dad scrambles to get set up and he beds down only exposing his neck...I told my dad and friend we need that doe to get up and walk right by the Buck  out into the cut and he will follow...and guess what  happens....doe gets up...walks right by and he gets up and takes a few steps standing broadside...first shot is a miss then the second shot connects as it was quarterng away, went right in the back end of the ribs and into the front shoulder destroying the lungs...he only went 5 yds and tipped over...high 5's went around after the 375 yd shot was made....a quick call to Elkoholic_74 and my pack out was 100 times easier...thanks again buddy  we filled 6 out of the 7 tags in our group...my son had other priorities besides hunting this year but I have no doubt he would have filled his if he was out.
