Smallest buck ever taken at Bearpaw!

I think this green score will hold pretty close after the required 60 day drying period. (By the way it's a legal buck, one antler was at least one inch, taken in an any buck area.)  :chuckle:

Green Score:
G1- 4/8", circumference 1 4/8
G1- 1 4/8, circumference 1 3/8
Total B&C Green Score - 4 7/8

What, no inside spread credit. He's at least an 8" buck I'd say.

I thought spread credit couldn't exceed main beam. I think 4 7/8 is money.   :chuckle:

This is not to be taken lightly, it was an arduous task for the guide to determine if this was a trophy we dare pull the trigger on!  :chuckle:

When I was a much younger man(14-16) my buddy and I started what we called the "Baush & Laumb Club"
Anyone can spot a good 4 point at a couple hundred yards. To get in this club you needed some good glass to make sure the trophys had antlers, the smaller they were the higher they ranked.

Below is a pic of our record holder. On the last day of the season it took over an hour to be sure it had an antler that was 1". Turned out that the buck had been shot in the very low leg(was broken badly) so I felt better about putting this one out of it's misery.

Ahhh... the much coveted one by none

Well done!

I took one of these gene pool bucks myself and im proud i did it.

The buck had a very unusual rack 3 point on the passenger side that resembled a comb. Would have been a legal three point but took it in a any buck region.

I was actually setup to receive the bearpaw DIY map but it seems dale had troubles with a broken horse leg on a moose hunt and couldn't complete a DIY map for me.

I was left disappointed in that aspect but still happy to harvest a buck for myself.

A remarkable experience is one where the pain is forgotten so quickly, the frustrations and struggles are forgotten the minute you’re done.

I can’t wait to do it the next time.

You can add a few more inches onto that monster's green score and perhaps set the bar so high to never be surpassed.  You do get a spread credit that can be no longer than the longest main beam and you actually get 4 circumference measurements on each side equally spaced along the main beam.  Hard to gauge.... but looks like...... around a 12" B&C score.  Congrats to the hunter!

I would have shot it, ended up with tag soup.  Plus, I need a non-typical for the trophy room.

Would have loved to find the sheds off him.
I found a shed just like this - had it on my keychain for years, unfortunately the eyescrew I used stripped out and I lost it.  1 7/8" long, don't remember the mass measurements
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
