Belfair idiots
« on: November 23, 2014, 01:02:15 PM »
So...hunted at in Belfair this morning.  For those that may not be familiar, there are four designated blinds for hunting.  It clearly states in the regulations that hunting from any area other than the blinds is PROHIBITED.

Well, I soon found out that the LAW BREAKERS that were in the blind across from us were IDIOTS!  We kept wondering what in the heck they were shooting at.  We quickly realized that these guys took "sky busting" to the next level.  Not giving birds a chance to even glance at their decoys.

It gets better.  They pick up around 9:30 and start motoring back down the channel.  I was shocked at what I saw next.  While the boat was underway (outboard running and all), they commenced to shoot ducks on the water probably 500 yards behind the legal hunting area (two regs broken at this point) :bash:.  I call Wildlife immediately and the dispatcher assured me that the Warden would be waiting for them at the boat ramp.  I hope they wore silver bracelets home.

Although I know that must of us are doing it right.  Today was a reminder that our sport still has it's fair share of idiots that give the rest of us a bad name.  Sorry for the rant.

all too well and true esp this hunting season. public blinds are worthless when people are trying to shoot out to 60+ yards in a 40+ yard water hole over another guys decoys. never again will i rifle hunt in this state since it is rediculous how many idiots with guys shoot 3-4 and even 5 times at who knows what because it isnt eve legal shooting hours when they are lighting up the woods.

I drove past the hatchery at the head of Minter Bay this morning. Closer to nion, actually. The bay (and creek) is open for Chum, I think. There were about 45-50 pickups parked on Creviston in front of the hatchery. Hey, no problem guys, have fun!

But, why do you feel the need to strew paper and garbage all over the area? Even trash haulers would be embarrassed to leave a mess like that. Makes me ashamed to live in Washington.

same guys complain when they don't catch anything except trash. I cannot wait until there are no more fish and game to catch and hunt.

Part of the problem is technology. I think that they should do away with the 15 shell limit on sites because no one adheares to it and no one enforces it.

I also think there should be no 3.5 shells just encourages guys to take longer shots.
This past weekend againist my better judgement I hunted Samish. Three num nuts set up on the approched to the pond we were on and sky busted every flock. I saw them go through a box of shells and two ducks fell.

I mean those ducks were so high I would not have shot at them with a rocket launcher.
I am saving for a bay boat and the heck with public sites.

I think the best answer is to hunt during the week if possible.  Sometimes it can be tough if the birds sit tightly some where, but there are a lot less jackwagons out there.   :twocents:

Yeah, but I used to live in the world of the skybusting, blind jumping, decoy shooting, "sportsman"....  ;)

To the OP, the nice thing about boats is they often have identifying numbers on them, record and report.

I have to agree. My best hunts on public land were on a Wed or Thurs morning... Even hunts that i didn't bring many home...
