NE corner elk..decent bull
« on: December 16, 2014, 03:44:33 PM »
Just a quick post. Tagged out with this bull up in the NE corner Oct. 29th modern rifle. Caught this guy moving through the aspens with another bull on the 3rd day of my hunt. 6x6 with 2 extra points busted off the right side. I shot the slowest one  :chuckle:  Boned out on the mountain side...10 hours later, everything was back at the truck loaded up. 328 pounds of boned out meat and my butt was beyond wiped out. (I had a heart attack 7 days later but feeling good now). Nasty steep hike but just the place to look for those NE elk.  Oh, and just for the record, I was wearing camo bibs but took them off to start gutting when this picture was taken.  :tung:

Like how the heart attack was a side note  :chuckle:. What caused it?

Glad your feeling better.

Great bull right there.

Thanks. I am only 50 years old....well 51 now.
Block in the lower artery. I was very lucky. The heart attack hit me around 7:10am but I was already at the clinic for a sore neck. By 8:30 I was out of surgery feeling great. Stint was put in and I was released the next day. 5 days after my heart attack I tagged out on a decent 4x4 whitey.  :chuckle:

Congrats 'Brew! Thanks for the reminder how precious and short life really is. Take good care of those trophies for future generations.

Thanks everyone.

It is short BC. I do remember feeling completely whipped, tired and sore more than I have ever before. I just thought I was getting to old for that. I am sure I was feeling the effects of what was soon to come but didn't realize it. It was a lot of work getting him off the mountain though.
Just one more day
