I use to hunt this unit back in the day when we could hunt mule deer, and miss it. Lets see some of those bucks that y'all killed this year.

We use to hunt it in the late '70s until my dad passed away in 1987. I have only hunted it a couple of times since then. He killed his largest buck up there, and so did I about 8 years after he died with the same rifle, in the same canyon. Both on the wall. Quick Draw killed her first mule deer a solid 2X4 (NO EYE GUARDS COUNTED) she calls it her stud deer  :chuckle:  I sure would like to hunt that area in the snow again.

Every once in awhile I see a freak crazy big deer come out of there.   I am disappointed the wolves have taken to it so well

I'll try to get some pics of them on the wall. I might have to call the girls to post them  :bash:

I ventured through Teanaway my first deer hunt. I still had a few years to figure out that there's a difference between going for a walk in the woods with a  gun and actually hunting

Good looking buck, Teanaway has some cool country in it for sure, its too bad the wolves moved in up there. Keep posting those photos of the big teanaway bucks.

I don't hunt much in the teanaway these days. Spend a lot of time in the hills in the spring and summer. see fewer and fewer animals each year. I spend most of my time hunting other areas. You can really start to see the impact that the wolves are having.
Happiness is being in the woods!!!

We quit hunting Teanaway the year that 2 hunters were shot. One was mistaken for a bear and the other was shot by someone shooting at movement in the brush from the road.  There use to be quite a few upper 20" and lower 30" bucks taken out of there.

Mid to late 80's.  Can't remember exactly.  We drove by as they were hauling the "bear" guy off of the hill.  He was about 500 yards uphill from the road wearing all dark clothes and bent halfway over crossing a rockslide when the guy from the road mistook him for a bear and killed him.  The Sheriff had to keep the guy form shooting himself because he was so distraught over what he had done.  2 days later the other guy was shot.  We left that night and vowed to never come back during hunting season.  I LOVED hunting that country once we got over the top.

Didn't mean to jack the thread.
